Unlike social media advertising, blogs have been around for a few years now and can be an effective way for you to generate real estate investment leads. Setting up a blog is a great way to promote yourself online and share your expertise as a real estate investor with others. You can also use it as a means for establishing your credibility with others and eventually attracting private lenders who will be interested in investing in your real estate deal.

So What is a Blog, Anyway?

A blog is a type of Web page where you can feature high quality information on real estate investment that can be viewed by the public. It is free to set up and it has to be consistently maintained and updated to hold the interest of your readers. You can provide content on real estate investing in the form of text, graphics, or video. Readers can comment on your content and ask you further questions about the information which helps you to generate interest in your particular area of real estate investment.

Is a Real Estate Investment Blog Difficult to Set Up?

Surprisingly, a blog for your real estate investment business is rather easy to set up. Most of the time commitment comes from maintaining and updating it on a consistent basis.

You can easily establish a blog for free on a site such as Google within a matter of minutes.

Sign Up for an Account: To begin establishing your blog, simply go to Google's home page and sign up for an account. When you log into your account you will see a dashboard of advertising tools, one of which will say "Blogger."

Set Up the Blog: After clicking on "Blogger" you can simply click on the orange icon that says, "Create Blog" and you will be walked through the step-by-step process of setting up your real estate investment blog. Google allows you to design a customized blog through the use of the templates, fonts, and colors that are provided.

One of the neat features Google provides when you set up a blog is Blogger Mobile in which you can also send posts and updates to your blog while you are on the go.

Within five minutes or so you should be ready to go with a new blog.

Marketing Your Blog

Once you have a blog established for your real estate investment business, there are multiple methods you can use to market the blog to increase traffic.

Social Media: You can link to your blog from your social media page such as on Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, or MySpace.

Search Engine Optimization: You can increase the visibility of your blog with the search engines by including keyword rich content that relates to your area of expertise in real estate. This requires some keyword research on your part to discover the words people are typing in to find what you have to offer.

Post Comments: Visit the blogs of other people who are involved with real estate investment and post comments that have high quality content and clearly demonstrate your knowledge and expertise. If you use high quality content, people will begin to visit your blog to find out what additional information you have to offer.

Post Links: Post links on your blog to other blogs or websites that you feel offer quality information. This is known as a blogroll and over time, the people will begin linking back to your blog. Make sure the links you are using offer quality content otherwise it could cost you your credibility.
